Plain-language summary

  • This process covers qualifying real intimate images or videos and digital forgeries shared without the depicted person's consent.
  • A valid request can be submitted by the depicted person or an authorized representative without creating an account.
  • Jornio will remove qualifying reported content and make reasonable efforts to identify and remove known identical copies within 48 hours after receiving a valid request.
  • We provide a case reference and status or outcome information through the contact method supplied with the request.

1. What this process covers

This process is for an intimate image or video that depicts an identifiable individual and was published or shared without that individual's consent. It includes qualifying digital forgeries, such as images or videos created or materially altered with software or artificial intelligence to appear authentic.

This process may apply whether the content appears in a Journey, Episode, comment, profile, request, restricted conversation, or another Jornio surface.

2. Who may submit a request

A request may be submitted by:

  • the individual depicted in the intimate image or video; or
  • a person authorized to act for that individual.

No Jornio account is required. We may request limited information reasonably necessary to validate identity, authority, the depicted individual, or the location of the content. We do not require unnecessary copies of the intimate material.

3. What to include

Submit the request and include:

  1. Your name and a safe email address or other contact method.
  2. Whether you are the depicted person or an authorized representative.
  3. Information sufficient to locate the content on Jornio, such as an exact URL, username, Journey, Episode, message, or content identifier.
  4. A brief description that lets us identify the reported image or video without requiring you to redistribute it.
  5. A statement that the image or video is intimate, depicts you or the person you represent, and was shared without the depicted person's consent.
  6. A statement that the information in the request is accurate and submitted in good faith.
  7. Your physical or electronic signature.

If information required for a valid request is missing, we may contact you through the safe contact method you provide.

4. What Jornio does

After receiving a valid request, Jornio will:

  • assign a case reference;
  • restrict access to the reported content as appropriate during urgent review;
  • remove qualifying reported content within 48 hours;
  • make reasonable efforts to identify and remove known identical copies within the same 48-hour period;
  • take steps reasonably available to prevent immediate reappearance; and
  • provide status or outcome information, including an explanation when a request cannot be completed, unless disclosure would create a safety, privacy, or legal risk.

Removing content under this process does not prevent Jornio from preserving a tightly restricted copy when required by law or reasonably necessary for safety, evidence integrity, legal claims, or law-enforcement obligations.

5. Privacy and request records

NCII requests and evidence are sensitive. Access is limited to personnel and service providers who need it for validation, removal, security, legal compliance, and safety operations.

Request records and restricted evidence are retained for the duration needed to validate and resolve the request, address known copies and related proceedings, and meet applicable safety, legal, or evidence-preservation duties, unless a shorter or longer period is required for a legal hold, safety obligation, law-enforcement process, or defense of legal claims. The Privacy Policy explains how to submit a privacy request.

6. Images involving anyone under 18

Sexual imagery involving a person who was under 18 when the image was created may be child sexual abuse material. Do not download, save, forward, or reupload it.

Report its location to Jornio. You can also use the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children's Take It Down service at https://takeitdown.ncmec.org/ Opens in a new tab.. If someone is in immediate danger, contact law enforcement.

7. Other reporting options

Submitting a request to Jornio does not prevent you from contacting law enforcement or using another remedy available to you.

8. Misuse

Do not submit a false request, impersonate a depicted person, or use this process to remove lawful non-intimate content. Misuse may lead to account action and may create legal liability.
