This summary is provided for convenience. The complete Terms below control.
1. Agreement to these Terms
These Terms of Service govern access to and use of Jornio's applications, websites, Journeys, Episodes, profiles, comments, participation features, request-based messaging, and related services (the "Service"). The Service is operated by Cadenium LLC ("Jornio," "we," "us," or "our").
To use account features, you must explicitly accept these Terms and the Community Guidelines when Jornio presents the current versions for acceptance. Requesting a sign-in link or reading a public page does not record that acceptance. If you do not agree, do not use account features.
The Privacy Policy describes how Jornio handles personal information. It is a separate notice, not an agreement to unrelated data uses or a substitute for any specific consent required by law.
If you obtain the Jornio iOS application through Apple's App Store, Apple's Standard EULA governs the license to the application. These Terms separately govern your account and use of the Jornio Service. Section 23 explains this distinction.
2. Eligibility and launch territory
The Service is intended only for people who are at least 18 years old and located in the United States. You may use the Service only if you:
- are at least 18 years old;
- can enter into a binding agreement with Jornio;
- are not prohibited from using the Service under applicable law; and
- comply with these Terms and the Community Guidelines.
People under 18 may not create an account, submit content, or use account features. We may ask for age-eligibility information and may restrict or close an account if we reasonably believe the user is under 18 or has misrepresented eligibility.
3. Accounts and security
Provide accurate information and keep it current. You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for activity under your account, except to the extent caused by Jornio's failure to use reasonable security measures.
Do not sell, transfer, share, or create an account for another person; impersonate another person or organization; evade an enforcement action; or use automated means to create accounts without written permission.
Tell us promptly at support@cadenium.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
4. What Jornio is
Jornio is a platform for documenting and understanding real-life progress. A Journey may organize a start point, important moments, current status, next step, connected Episodes, external link cards, and participation prompts.
Jornio is not an emergency service, medical or mental-health provider, therapy provider, legal service, financial adviser, investment adviser, charity, crowdfunding platform, marketplace, escrow service, employment agency, or guarantee that a Journey will succeed or that help will be provided.
Jornio does not process payments, donations, tips, crowdfunding, paid help, subscriptions, paid introductions, or marketplace transactions.
Where Smart Journey is made available and you choose to use it, Jornio can use cloud AI to propose a Journey draft from the source material and context you select. Availability may depend on your account and the current app version. You review and accept a draft before it becomes editable Journey content; generating a draft does not publish it. Generated titles, descriptions, tags, and other suggestions can be inaccurate. Check the facts, rights, audience, and sensitive information before accepting or publishing them. AI suggestions are not professional advice, rights clearance, or a guarantee of an outcome. The Privacy Policy explains this optional processing and temporary source retention.
5. User Content and ownership
"User Content" includes Journeys, Episodes, titles, descriptions, images, video, audio, comments, replies, profiles, participation actions, requests, messages, reports, external links, and other material that a user submits, uploads, posts, sends, or otherwise provides through the Service.
You keep any ownership rights you have in your User Content. Other people may hold rights in material included in your content, and you do not obtain those rights merely by posting it.
6. License to operate the Service
When you provide User Content, you grant Jornio a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, transmit, display, publish, distribute, format, transcode, create technical previews or thumbnails of, moderate, and recommend that content as reasonably necessary to provide, secure, maintain, and improve the Service.
The license allows Jornio to display content according to the audience and visibility choices available in the Service, make public content available through share links and discovery surfaces subject to eligibility and safety controls, and use service providers to operate the Service. It does not transfer ownership of your User Content to Jornio.
The license ends when your User Content is deleted from active systems, except to the extent a limited copy is reasonably required for backups, security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or other retention described in the Privacy Policy. Content independently copied or shared by other people outside Jornio may remain outside our control.
7. Your content responsibilities
You are responsible for your User Content. You represent and warrant that:
- you created it, own it, or have all permissions needed to provide it to Jornio;
- providing and using it as described in these Terms does not violate law, another person's rights, these Terms, or the Community Guidelines;
- it does not expose another person's private information without permission; and
- any label, disclosure, or audience information you provide is accurate.
These responsibilities apply to every part of an uploaded video or audio recording, including background music, songs, sound recordings, performances, and third-party clips. You must have the rights needed both to include that material in your content and to allow Jornio to use it as described in Section 6. Buying a song, subscribing to a streaming service, crediting an artist, or finding a video online does not by itself give you permission to upload or publish it on Jornio.
If Jornio offers a licensed music catalog, any permission for a catalog track is limited to the uses, territory, duration, and other conditions stated for that track. It does not clear other music or video that you upload, and it does not automatically authorize use outside Jornio. The Copyright and DMCA Policy explains music rights and copyright requests.
Hosting, processing, or making User Content available does not mean Jornio owns it, endorses it, or confirms that the uploader has cleared every right. Your content responsibilities do not exclude Jornio's own obligations under applicable law, including the copyright notice and counter-notice process.
Do not post medical records, government identifiers, financial credentials, private contact details, or other highly sensitive information unless the Service expressly asks for it and you understand why it is needed.
8. External links and third-party services
The Service may let users attach links to third-party websites or platforms. You are responsible for the link and the context you add. Do not copy or reupload third-party media unless you have the necessary rights.
Jornio does not control third-party services and is not responsible for their content, availability, security, terms, or privacy practices. Opening a third-party link may allow that third party to collect information under its own policies.
9. Community rules and prohibited conduct
You must follow the Community Guidelines. You may not use the Service to:
- sexually exploit, groom, endanger, or abuse any person, or create, possess, request, distribute, or facilitate child sexual abuse material;
- post pornography, non-consensual intimate imagery, sexual exploitation, trafficking, or prostitution-facilitation content;
- threaten, harass, bully, shame, stalk, dox, or encourage harm against another person;
- promote hate, dehumanization, terrorism, violent extremism, credible violence, dangerous challenges, or illegal activity;
- scam, defraud, impersonate, spam, phish, distribute malware, manipulate engagement, or evade safety systems;
- violate copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights;
- present unqualified medical, mental-health, legal, financial, tax, immigration, safety, or other professional guidance as authoritative professional advice;
- solicit or process payments, donations, crowdfunding, paid help, or paid services through Jornio; or
- scrape, reverse engineer, disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the Service.
An 18+ eligibility rule does not make prohibited content permissible.
10. Sensitive Journeys and participation
Journeys may discuss recovery, health, crisis, relocation, financial hardship, legal difficulty, career loss, or other sensitive experiences. These may be shared as personal stories and progress context, not as emergency response or professional care.
Participation can include comments, reactions, Watch selections, community membership, and accepted personal conversations. No response, professional relationship, or outcome is guaranteed. Do not pressure another person, request money, make misleading claims, or ask someone to move an unsafe interaction off Jornio.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. Do not wait for Jornio to review a report.
11. Requests and private conversations
Jornio does not offer open, random, or anonymous direct messages. For a new personal conversation, an eligible adult may send another eligible adult a chat request, including from their profile. Messaging starts only after the recipient accepts. A Journey or participation prompt is not required.
Joining a Journey community is a separate, voluntary action. An open community lets an eligible person join directly; a community that requires approval admits them after their request is approved. Watching a Journey does not join its community.
Either participant may report or block the other. Blocking prevents new requests and messages as implemented by the Service. Jornio may access reported or safety-flagged conversation content through authorized personnel when reasonably necessary for safety, support, security, or legal compliance. Jornio does not promise end-to-end encryption or absolute confidentiality.
12. Moderation and enforcement
We may review, label, limit distribution of, age-restrict, hold, remove, or disable access to User Content when we reasonably believe it violates these Terms, the Community Guidelines, law, safety expectations, or another person's rights. We may warn, restrict features, suspend, or terminate accounts and may preserve limited evidence where reasonably necessary.
We are not required to monitor every item or conversation. Moderation may use user reports, automated signals, and human review, and mistakes may occur. Eligible moderation decisions may be appealed through the appeal process or the appeal form.
The Reporting and Moderation page explains the general report process, possible outcomes, and response-time limits. It does not create a guaranteed response deadline for general reports.
We may report conduct or preserve and disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to address serious safety threats, exploitation, or abuse.
13. Copyright and intimate-image removal
Copyright complaints and counter-notices are handled under the Copyright and DMCA Policy.
Requests concerning non-consensual intimate images, including qualifying digital forgeries, are handled through the Intimate Image Removal page. Do not use a general moderation appeal when the specialized urgent process applies.
14. Jornio intellectual property
Except for User Content and third-party materials, Jornio and its licensors own the Service, including its software, interfaces, designs, systems, trademarks, and logos. These Terms do not grant you a license to use Jornio branding or materials except as needed to use the Service as intended.
You may provide feedback. Unless we separately agree in writing, you allow Jornio to use feedback without restriction or compensation, but we do not acquire ownership of your pre-existing intellectual property through feedback.
15. Privacy
The Privacy Policy explains what information Jornio collects, why it is used, how it is shared, how long it is retained, and the choices and rights available to users. The Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy separately explains Jornio's practices for covered health-related information. These documents are notices, not agreements to unrelated data uses.
16. Account and Journey deletion
You may initiate deletion inside the app through Settings > Account > Delete account or start a public web request. Deletion is different from logout or temporary deactivation.
Account deletion removes the account's sign-in association, profile identifiers, private settings, and other account-linked personal records. Some authored content and shared history may remain attributed to "Deleted user" through the current account-deletion process. This attribution change does not necessarily remove identifying information within an image, recording, or text. You can separately delete content where that action is available and submit a privacy or content-removal request. Retaining shared history does not override a right to deletion under applicable law. The Privacy Policy and Account Deletion page explain these distinctions and the legal, safety, and backup exceptions.
Deleting an individual Journey is a separate action. Where the Journey deletion and recovery action is available, the Journey and its Episodes are hidden while the creator has 14 days to restore them. The server-provided deadline controls: restoration is unavailable at or after that deadline. Restoration preserves the previous audience and access settings and does not override a safety, moderation, copyright, or other legal restriction. This recovery period does not apply to permanent account deletion or enforcement actions, and its expiry does not certify erasure of every stored copy. See the Account Deletion and Data Rights page.
17. Changes to the Service and these Terms
We may change the Service or these Terms. For material changes, we will provide notice appropriate to the change, such as an in-app notice, an updated effective date, or a request for renewed acceptance. The new Terms apply from their stated effective date.
If you do not agree to revised Terms, stop using the Service and request account deletion before the revised Terms take effect.
18. Service availability and disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, JORNIO DISCLAIMS IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE.
Jornio does not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, the accuracy or safety of User Content, the continued availability of third-party links, a successful Journey, a response to a participation request, or any particular result.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
19. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, JORNIO AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, OR HARM ARISING FROM USER CONTENT, THIRD-PARTY SERVICES, OR ANOTHER USER'S CONDUCT.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, JORNIO'S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED the greater of US $100 or the amount you paid Jornio during the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
20. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Jornio and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from third-party claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and reasonable expenses arising from your User Content, your unlawful use of the Service, your material breach of these Terms, or your violation of another person's rights.
21. Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute that is not resolved informally will be brought in the state and federal courts located in New Mexico, unless applicable law gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.
Before filing a claim, you and Jornio agree to send a written notice describing the dispute and to make a good-faith effort to resolve it for at least 30 days, unless urgent injunctive relief is reasonably necessary.
22. General terms
If a provision is unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted and the remaining provisions will remain in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent; Jornio may transfer them in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of the Service, subject to applicable law.
These Terms, the Community Guidelines, and any additional terms presented for a specific feature are the agreement between you and Jornio about the Service.
23. Apple App Store license
If you obtain the Jornio iOS application through Apple's App Store, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement Opens in a new tab. governs the license to the iOS application unless Jornio presents a separately reviewed custom license in the App Store. These Terms separately govern your Jornio account, the Service, User Content, and your relationship with Jornio. Apple is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for operating or supporting the Jornio Service.
