Reporting & Moderation

How reports are prioritized, what Jornio may review, possible outcomes, timing limits, blocking, and appeals.

Plain-language summary

  • Use Report on a Journey, Episode, profile, comment, request, or conversation when content or conduct may break the Community Guidelines.
  • Use Block when you want to stop new interactions with another account. Reporting and blocking are separate actions.
  • Jornio may use automated signals and authorized human review to identify, prioritize, and investigate possible violations.
  • General reports do not have a guaranteed response time. Jornio prioritizes credible threats, exploitation, non-consensual intimate imagery, and other urgent risks.
  • Jornio is not an emergency service and may not review reports in real time.

This page explains the general process. Specialized privacy, copyright, intimate-image removal, and appeal processes have their own requirements.

1. Where to report

Use the in-product Report action where it is available on a Journey, Episode, profile, comment, request, or conversation. If you cannot access the relevant content or account, use the support form.

Use the specialized process when the issue is:

If someone is in immediate danger in the United States, call 911 or the appropriate emergency service. For suicide or mental-health crisis support, call or text 988. Do not wait for Jornio to review a report.

2. What to include

Choose the closest report reason and provide the Jornio URL, account, Journey, Episode, comment, request, conversation, or other identifier when available. Briefly explain what happened and why it may violate a rule.

Do not download, forward, or reupload suspected child sexual abuse material or non-consensual intimate imagery in order to report it. Provide its Jornio location and use the specialized process.

3. What happens after a report

Jornio records the report and may preserve a limited snapshot of the reported content, related metadata, and the applicable policy version so the report can be reviewed consistently. The product may provide a confirmation or reference identifier.

Depending on the issue, Jornio may:

  1. use automated signals to prioritize the report or temporarily limit visibility;
  2. assign the case to an authorized reviewer based on severity and subject matter;
  3. review the reported object, relevant context, prior enforcement, and information submitted by the parties;
  4. request additional information where necessary; and
  5. record the decision, reason, notice, and appeal status.

Not every item is manually reviewed before it appears on Jornio, and an automated signal does not by itself prove that a rule was violated. Mistakes can occur.

4. Possible outcomes

A review may result in no action, a warning, a content label, an audience or recommendation restriction, temporary review status, removal, a feature restriction, suspension, termination, evidence preservation, or another proportionate action.

Jornio may act before completing a full review when content presents a credible threat, exploitation risk, privacy risk, security risk, or legal obligation. Serious conduct may be reported or disclosed where required or permitted by law.

The person who submitted a report may receive a status or outcome notice, but Jornio may limit details to protect another person's privacy, safety, account security, confidential detection methods, or legally restricted information.

5. Timing

Jornio prioritizes reports based on the apparent severity, immediacy, available evidence, and legal requirements. General safety and Community Guidelines reports do not have a fixed public response deadline and may not be reviewed in real time.

Some specialized processes have different deadlines. For example, Jornio's Intimate Image Removal process explains the 48-hour requirement that applies after Jornio receives a valid qualifying request. Privacy, consumer-health-data, and copyright requests follow their applicable processes.

6. Reporting, blocking, and appeals are different

  • Report asks Jornio to review possible content or conduct violations.
  • Block stops new interactions as implemented by the Service, but it does not automatically remove content or decide a report.
  • Appeal asks Jornio to review an eligible decision already made against your content, feature, or account.

You may block an account without submitting a report. When safety is involved, using both actions may be appropriate.

7. Private requests and conversations

Jornio does not offer open, random, or anonymous direct messages. Messaging in a new personal conversation starts only after an eligible adult accepts the other adult's chat request. A request may start from a profile and does not require a Journey. Either person can report or block the other without accepting a request.

Jornio may use automated tools to detect abuse, spam, malware, exploitation, and other safety signals in requests or conversations. Authorized reviewers may access relevant message content and metadata when a conversation is reported, safety-flagged, or reasonably needed for support, security, or legal compliance. Not every conversation is manually read.

Jornio does not promise end-to-end encryption or that message content is inaccessible to Jornio. Review the Privacy Policy before using private conversations and do not send information that is unnecessary for the interaction.

8. Misuse of reporting tools

Do not knowingly submit false reports, impersonate another person, coordinate mass reporting to silence lawful content, threaten reviewers, or use a report to obtain another person's private information. Abuse of reporting tools may itself violate the Community Guidelines.
